Questions newcomers often ask
I am a student. Do I need to register with the consulate?
Yes. Registration concerns every Beninese national living abroad, whatever the planned length of their stay. It is all the more useful for a student living far from family.
I live in Brussels, Lille or Luxembourg: can I turn to the Liège consulate?
Yes. The Liège consulate welcomes compatriots who turn to it, wherever they live. Most formalities are done online; you only travel for the steps that require it, by appointment.
I don't have a residence permit yet. Can I still register?
Contact the consulate: every situation is looked at. The consulate is your administration whatever your residence status, and your details are not passed on to the Belgian authorities.
How long is the consular card valid?
Five years. Remember to renew it before it expires, and to tell the consulate if your address or phone number changes.
