The Senate is an institution introduced by the constitutional revision adopted in November 2025. It stands alongside the National Assembly in Benin's institutional framework.
Role
The Senate safeguards institutional stability, national unity and the continuity of public action. It takes part in the legislative process under the rules laid down by the Constitution and its organic law.
