Constitutional Court

The highest court in constitutional matters rules on the constitutionality of laws and guarantees fundamental rights.

The Constitutional Court is the highest court of the State in constitutional matters. Its decisions are final and binding on all public authorities.

Powers

  • Rule on the constitutionality of laws and regulations.
  • Guarantee fundamental human rights and public freedoms.
  • Oversee presidential and legislative elections and proclaim their results.
  • Regulate the functioning of institutions.

Composition

The Court has seven members, appointed partly by the bureau of the National Assembly and partly by the President of the Republic.
