Tourism: « Bénin, un monde de splendeurs » and Vodun Days extended to eight days in 2027

Tourism is a priority sector for Benin, which aims to raise its share of GDP from 6% to 13.4% by 2030 and welcome more than two million visitors a year.

A country brand since September 2025

On 20 September 2025, the Government unveiled the visual identity of the country brand « Bénin, un monde de splendeurs » (“Benin, a world of splendours”), drawing on the Amazons of Danxomè, the hero Bio Guéra and the Guèlèdé mask.

Vodun Days 2027: eight days in Ouidah

Vodun Days 2027 will run from 2 to 9 January 2027 in Ouidah. Only 7 and 8 January will be public holidays. The longer format is meant, among other things, to let the diaspora extend their stay. Learn more on our Culture page.

Major projects

• Ouidah Marina around the Door of No Return.
• International Museum of Memory and Slavery (MIME) in Ouidah.
• Museum of the Kings and Amazons of Danxomè (MuRAD) in Abomey, to house the 26 royal treasures returned by France in 2021.
