Passport: renew it online from Belgium with ePASS

The official ePASS platform lets Beninese nationals abroad renew their biometric passport from their phone, without travelling. Eligibility, steps and documents to prepare.

Launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 21 October 2025, the ePASS platform lets Beninese nationals living abroad — in more than 80 countries, including Belgium — renew their biometric passport entirely online. The passport is announced within four weeks of the application being validated.

Who can use ePASS?

  • Beninese adults and minors living outside Benin;
  • holding a previous biometric passport;
  • with a personal identification number (NPI) and a consular registration number.

Steps

  1. Download the ePass.bj app or go to epass.gouv.bj.
  2. Create an account with your NPI and consular registration number.
  3. Take your photo and fingerprints with your phone.
  4. Upload the documents and pay online.
  5. Track your application and choose delivery: home delivery, a diplomatic mission or the DEI in Cotonou.

Documents

  • previous biometric passport and a copy of its identity page;
  • birth certificate;
  • personal identification certificate (ANIP);
  • for minors: parental authorisation.
